The story behind the photo:

I was documenting the war crimes committed by the Russians in Borodyanka when in the midst of the destroyed buildings a lady was waiting looking absorbedly at the destruction around her. I was very struck by her red hat that stood out against the destroyed buildings behind her, like a moment of hope.
