The story behind the photo:

I was inside the shooting ranges of Semipalatinsk, in Kazakhstan, where 456 nuclear warheads were tested during the Soviet period. I was following the scientists of the Kurchatov nuclear center and wearing protective suits against radiations, while going to ground zero, on the left, where the first Soviet atomic bomb was exploded on 1949. This is one of the most contaminated spot in the planet and it will remain for millennia to come.
